& Outcomes of Training
Neuromuscular training (NMT) is an encompassing term which includes the integrative implementation of key cornerstones of developmental training for athletes: strength, dynamic balance (proprioceptive capacity), motor control (skill acquisition), functional neuromotor resilience (physical and cognitive endurance), sport specificity, and functional mobility (range of motion, controlled flexibility). These keys are the foundation for speed, agility, power, and technical proficiency which are progressively built into the training curriculum. NMT interventions are an evidenced based practice which have been demonstrated clinically across age groups in both injured and uninjured populations to be efficacious in multiple dimensions of measurement, from youth to the professional level.
The Neuromuscular Training Academy is dedicated to the development and collaborative implementation of such evidence-based interventions for athletes, teams, and communities. Our methods have been shown through years of rigorous clinical research to significantly improve strength in critical stabilizing musculature, dynamic balance in various game-like conditions, functional movement through the cultivation of skill acquisition and mobility training, and functional resilience under conditions of fatigue. NMT programs are well understood to not only decrease risk for injury, most notably in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), but also improve versatility and functional capacity throughout one’s biomechanical profile. The overarching goal of our training approach is to enhance the quality and longevity of athletic endeavors at all levels of play and performance.
